New Zion continued to march by participation in the Holy Week Ecumenical Area Services coordinated by pastor F. W. Spears. The 2002 Holy Week experiences climaxed at New Zion where Rev. V. Holland Delivered the 6 AM Easter Sunrise Message.
In Keeping with the church's mission statement which pledges to network with other agencies, Rev. Spears accepted the responsibility of coordinating the religious aspects of the Lee County Centennial by bringing together the churches of the County for a mass religious program
The WMS was well represented and played an active role at the 9th Annual Retreat. Sixteen women attended.
A Delegation of young people along with Director Sadie McDowel, attended the Annual retreat held at White Oak.
The Lay Organization continues to be wide awake. to Prepare for the Madam Seventh, New Zion held its local contest on Saturday, April 28. 25 faithful Lay women participated. the Laymen's activities concluded on Sunday, April 28, with the presentation of the Annual Lay May services. the guest speaker was Ms. Judy K. Bradley, a member of new Zion, presently employed at Walden Correctional Institution.
On, Sunday, April 14, the Pastor's Aide Club, mad glad the hearts of Rev. and Mrs. Spears as they presented a special program. The church's praise Dancers, premiered during this celebration.
the church is now preparing to host the Sumter District Annual Church School Convention which will convene on June 15. Our Prayers are that the prayers, work, faith, and visions of our Episcopal, Conference, District, and local leaders--along with lay members-- will move this A.M.E. Church forward in the name or our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
